My story

A picturesque landscape featuring mountains, a lake, and trees under a clear blue sky.

My passion for learning about survival skills has led me to study with some of the most respected wilderness schools and individuals in the field across North America.

My Teachers and Mentors

  • Tom Brown Jr. - America's most acclaimed outdoorsman, tracker, and wilderness survival expert.

  • Mors Kochanski - The worlds foremost authority on Boreal wilderness skills and survival. He popularized the term ‘Bushcraft’

  • Jon Young - Deep nature connection mentor, wildlife tracker, peacemaker, author, workshop leader, consultant, inspiring public speaker and storyteller.

  • Cody Lundin - Internationally recognized Aboriginal Living Skills instructor. Co-Host of the Discovery Channel Reality Show "Dual Survival."

  • Boulder Outdoor Survival School (BOSS) - Survived 28 Days in the Southern Utah Desert with a knife and small amount of supplies.

  • Lived and studied with the Seri Tribe of Sonora Mexico.

Personal Journey

My lifelong dream has been to teach survival skills and reconnect people to the earth.

In 2009, I founded YellowHawks Journey and taught Survival Skills professionally.

I felt called to serve marginalized communities but struggled to make that connection work within a traditional business model.

Then a series of catastrophic events altered my life completely. I experienced incarceration, battled addiction, was chronically homeless and faced profound mental health challenges.

What I lived through nearly killed me — but it taught me what matters and gave me the skills to guide others through the same darkness.

I measure my success by the positive impact I make helping people, not how much money I make.

In 2023, I created Mountain Man Network to support marginalized individuals outside of broken traditional systems.

Transformation and Purpose

Today I am accountable for my past and have emerged stronger, more resilient, and determined to live my life with meaning and purpose.

The challenges and struggles I have had to endure and overcome have given me the unique experience and qualifications to do this work — from surviving to thriving!

Commitment to Helping Others

I help individuals as a way to work on myself and I work on myself to help others. I'm grateful for the opportunity to successfully support countless individuals in achieving their goals and transforming their lives.

"The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion."
